Hello Members!
June 15th is quickly approaching. Why is this date important? When we began the donations for the A.M.A. brick, we set June 15th as the date we would review our donations to decide if we could:
-Purchase our $1,000 brick
-Purchase as many individual bricks as possible
-Further extend the time to take donations to achieve our original goal of $1,000
It’s time to take a moment in our hectic schedules to reflect on the opportunity we have available. The Radio Control Club of Detroit emanates our pride of past and current accomplishments. The pride of our club does not come from the tangible field or other assets we have, or the organized consistent structure of our meetings, instead it comes from something deeper, the people. It’s the efforts of each and every one of us, no matter how large or small they may be, that reflects our pride in the tangible items people see such as our events, meetings, field, website, etc.
Sometimes it’s difficult for passionate, committed people to stop for a moment and recognize the accomplishments they have made, and even more difficult for humble people to understand that sometimes, a tangible item may, at once, reflect past accomplishments, current achievements, and the promise of future possibilities.
The brick we will purchase, to be laid permanently at the gates of the central organization of the hobby we so passionately embrace, will be a long-standing reminder of how a group of like-minded people can come together for no other purpose than to share a common love. And, it serves to show the pride of our heritage, how committed we are to our hobby and organization, and to future modelers it says, “We have been here, and we are committed to the preservation of this hobby”.
To date, we have approximately $450 towards our $1,000 goal. For less than $5 per member we can make this happen!! In our actions, we have repeatedly shown anything we do, we do it our best. Let’s show ourselves, and future modelers, this is no exception!! If you believe in the pride of our club, and would like to show that pride ‘in stone’ please take a moment to contribute a few dollars for our legacy.
