Great Covering Gripper
Here is a great way to pull covering tight (especially if you have a short edge to grip) without burning your fingers. Cover the tips of a pair of needle nose pliers with heat shrink tubing. This males a perfect gripping tool. The serrations in the nose of the pliers keep the heat shrink tubing from sliding off. They work great.
