A TIGHT FIT FOR COWLINGS
A well fit cowling or hatch is always a
beautiful thing to see on a model. A bad fit can wreck the appearance of the
whole plane. Here is my method for accomplishing a great fit.
To start--you'll need to have the parts
already built. To begin you need masking tape, two sided tape and epoxy and
micro balloons.

Step one--use the masking tape to mask
the edges of the cowl. This is to keep the epoxy/micro balloon mix from going
where you don't want it to go, the sides of the model.

Step two--use the two sided tape to cover
one of the two edges that will make the hatch line. leave the protective paper
on the tape so the epoxy mix will adhere to only one half of the hatch.

Step three--mix up enough epoxy and micro
balloons to cover the entire edge of the cowl. Now spread it on the edge of
your cowl.
Step four--seat the cowl (with the epoxy
mix on the edges) to the model and let it cure. The two sided tape will keep
the pieces from sticking together.

Now Sand Smooth--once the epoxy mix is
cured separate the two halves and remove all of the tape. Put the two pieces
back together and sand the excess epoxy mix off.

Follow these steps and you will have a
cowl/hatch fit that is perfect.
