SHEETING A WING WITH BALSA
It's always hard to glue a large balsa sheet over a wing frame
and get
it held in place and be sure that it's down over the entire wing. I'm
never
sure it's down tight against the ribs. BILL McMATH came up with this
suggestion, I tried it and it works. First layout your ribs, spars, leading
and trailing edges on the inside of the skin. Next with a small brush apply
a glue solution, of one part water and four or five parts glue, to both the
wing frame and the skin. You must let the glue solution dry completely.
Now you can attach the skin to the wing with a hot covering iron.
And remember it will take longer to heat up the glue thru the balsa.
Hold the skin in place until the glue cools and your done.
It goes quite fast once you get the hang of it.
